Dehydrated Skin

The main distinguishing factor is that dehydrated skin lacks water. So this means that even if you have an oily or combination skin type your skin can still be dehydrated! Signs that your skin is dehydrated include the following:
  • Skin looks dull
  • Feels tight
  • Feels rough
  • Fine lines show more
Dehydrated skin can be caused by many factors including sun exposure, central heating and air conditioning or hot showers and baths. So how should you treat it? One of the most important things you can do is to drink more water! You should be aiming to drink at least 2 litres of water a day. Dry Skin

Whereas, as we discovered previously, that dehydrated skin lacks water, what dry skin doesn't have enough of is oil! Dry skin isn't a temporary condition, it's classed as a skin type, which is more permanent but can be managed. Some common tell tale signs of dry skin are:
  • Small pores
  • Flaky skin
  • Rough to touch
  • Looks dry
Unfortunately with dry skin there's no real cause, you tend to be born that way, which is why we class it as a skin type rather than a condition. You will probably find that when you apply moisturisers or lotions that they are soaked up by the skin fairly quickly. Here are some of our top dry skin saviours: More Skincare Tips For Dry Skin
