hydration As we slowly begin to accept that this cold weather is here to stay, we also need to start considering changing up our skincare routine. You'll probably have noticed that your skin feels drier and looks duller. This is down to both the chilling, biting wind outside and the warm dry air from your heating inside. The dry air both indoors and outdoors causes your skin to become dehydrated and as a result, you may also see other concerns manifest. From flaking and uneven texture to redness and even breakouts. So what do you need to do to give your skin the hydration it needs?

Make sure to slough away all the dead skin cells that build up on your skin to prevent them clogging your pores. Plus, removing this layer will ensure that every other skincare product you use can properly penetrate your skin and provide your skin with all its benefits. Exfoliate up to 3 times per week, and you'll also start to see your skin looking brighter and clearer.

Add a Hydrator

A hydrator for hydration...seems pretty obvious when you think about it, no? A hydrator is great for giving your skin that added boost. For example, the Cyto-luxe Hydration+ is lighter than a moisturiser and so can penetrate further into your skin. Plus you only need to use 3-4 drops to get instant relief for your skin! Though whatever hydrator you choose to use, make sure to apply it before you moisturise as otherwise, it will be ineffective. If you find midday that your skin has become drier but you're wearing makeup so can't reapply any serums or moisturisers, don't panic! You can rehydrate with a spritz of a hydrating mist. This will refresh your skin without ruining your makeup. In fact, it can actually help revive your makeup!

Switch Your Moisturiser

One of the most important steps to take in updating your skincare routine is by getting a thicker moisturiser. The richer the moisturiser the better. This will help combat the dry air and give your skin the hydration it so desperately needs. hydrationBelow we've listed all our moisturisers from light to heavy, to help you decide what you need:

Don't be Scared of Facial Oils

You may be hesitant at the idea of adding oil to your face, especially those with oily skin, but facial oils can actually be your skin's savior! Yep, facials oils are great for both dry and oily skin types since it helps your skin regulate oil production. Mixing a facial oil with your favorite moisturiser will nourish and condition your skin, and also give you an additional protective layer against harsher environmental elements. P.S. You can also apply this oil to your cuticles for gorgeous hands and nails.

Nourish you Lips

Nourish don't neglect. To prevent your lips from drying out and flaking, apply a light layer of lip balm after you brush your teeth in the morning and evening. In the mornings, before you apply your makeup, let it sink into your skin, to ensure your lips stay supple, even when wearing a matte lipstick. If your lips are in need of some serious TLC, try glo therapeutics Barrier Balm for extremely chapped lips.

Wear SPF

You need to have sun protection year round, as UV rays can still penetrate and damage the skin, regardless of whether it's cloudy or sunny!

Take it easy

Your skin may start to feel sensitive or irritable during the change of seasons, so try to find products with calm, anti-inflammatory agents like Aloe and Cucumber. Plus, remember not to suddenly slather on all your new products at once. It may be tempting, and we all love opening that fresh product, but it can be detrimental to your skin. Instead, try to introduce one new product at a time and see how it affects your skin.
