The matte lip is a trend that is still going strong. It's arguably the easiest way to make a statement! But many struggle to make matte lipstick last the whole day. So we've compiled some tips to help make this possible.
Exfoliate
If you have dry lips, matte lipstick may sound like your worst nightmare. But a matte formula doesn't have to be your enemy! You can prep your lips by gently exfoliating away dead skin cells with a damp bath towel or a soft toothbrush.
Hydrate
Once you've exfoliated your lips, pat them dry and hydrate with a
balm. We recommend applying the balm before your apply your face makeup. This will give your lips a chance to absorb it before you apply any other lip products.
Liner

To prevent any bleeding of your lipstick, prime your lips with the
Lip Filler Pencil. This liner will help make matte lipstick last by smoothing, hydrating and filling any fine lines to prevent feathering and fading. Plus it can subtly increase the volume of your lips after contact with the skin's natural moisture!
Application
Now fill in your lips with nourishing colour packed lipstick like the
Suede Matte Crayon or
Suede Matte Stick. Formulated with a cocktail of antioxidants plus Mango Oil and Shea Butter to keep your lips hydrated all day. The colour is creamy upon application, but once it dries, it's super matte and sure to last all day!
Durability
To be 100% sure you make your matte lipstick last, avoid rubbing your lips together. However, if you do need to reapply after lunch, the
Suede Matte Crayon has a built-in sharpener, perfect for any girl-on-the-go!
Removal
A good matte lip needs an effective makeup remover. An oil-based cleanser like the
Essential Cleansing Oil is great for easily removing even the most stubborn of makeup! Apply the oil using dry hands to dry skin, massaging into the lips. Then splash water onto your hands and continue to massage your lips. Finally, rinse off the oil, pat your lips dry and don't forget to apply a Balm!
