If you have
sensitive skin, you need to treat it with extra TLC! Here’s how to make even the most temperamental skin glow.
Test Sensitive Skin
Always, always test new products. While it might seem like a pain, it’s nothing compared to the hassle of having a glowing red face for days. Play things on the safe side by applying a dab of product then waiting for 24 hours to see if you have any signs of irritation.
Hydration is your Best Friend
Sensitive skin is incredibly sensitive to the elements. Sleeping in an unusually dry room for just one night can wreck havoc on your skin. It’s really important to moisturise day and night to protect and hydrate your skin.
Our favourite moisturiser for sensitive skin is
glo-therapeutics Conditioning Hydration Cream. Thanks to the non-irritating alpha lipoic acid and soy isoflavones, you’ll have a protective layer over your skin all day long after applying this hydration cream.
Forget about Hypoallergenic
While hypoallergenic products can be great, they definitely aren’t fool-proof. In fact, there is no real standard definition of the word hypoallergenic so technically anyone can slap the word on their product. If you have sensitive skin, it’s important to learn which ingredients irritate your skin and go for gentle ingredients that soothe and provide relief.
Understand Your Beauty Labels
If you have particularly sensitive skin, it’s really important to know what to look for on labels. Generally speaking, you’ll want to look for products with less than a dozen ingredients. Using a product with a massive list of ingredients is just risking fate. Keep it simple and always avoid fragrances.
Wash Gently
Only use a cleanser formula designed specifically for sensitive skin. A delicate formula like
glo-therapeutics Hydrating Gel Cleanser is perfect for even the most sensitive of faces.
Pro tip: Be careful with your overall cleansing routine. Limit your cleansing to once a day and just use makeup remover and water outside of that. And don’t rough yourself up! Gently blot your skin dry with a soft towel rather than rubbing the water off.
Go SPF Crazy
Sensitive skin is super sensitive to the sun. It’s absolutely critical to wear sunscreen every day of the year. Go for at least SPF 30 and look for creams with zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, which are unlikely to irritate sensitive skin. Check out products like
glo-therapeutics Solar Shade SPF 50.
